Canadian Sanctions with Global Affairs and Transport Canada
The CBMU is delighted to welcome the Global Affairs Canada Sanction Bureau Outreach team, who will be offering a presentation and discussion session on Canada’s sanctions regime.
"As you may know, Canada's use of sanctions has increased in recent years, in particular following Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Global Affairs Canada is leading outreach efforts to ensure Canadians understand how sanctions may apply to their activities or their work. We offer a presentation entitled "Sanctions 101" that will provide an overview of Canada's sanctions toolkit, current sanctions measures, best practices on how to conduct due diligence to verify sanctions, and information on how to apply for a permit, if one is required.
This hybrid session is intended to promote awareness of and solicit questions to engage in discussion on Canada’s sanctions and how they can affect the various sectors and stakeholders under your purview.
We invite you to visit our website (Canada’s Sanctions) if you wish to familiarize yourself with Canada’s sanctions regime prior to the session. Please also consider submitting any industry or stakeholder related questions you have in advance so we can prepare more fulsome answers as required."
Presented by Colleen Sinclair and Simon Boutin from Global Affairs Canada and Joel Fryer from Transport Canada
