1:15 – 2:00 p.m. 2015 Worldwide and Canadian Marine Figures. Highlights of 2016 IUMI Conference.

• Isabelle Therrien, CBMU President, Falvey Cargo Underwriting

This presentation will review the worldwide Cargo, Hull & P&I written premium and loss ratios. It will also review the worldwide distribution of premium and the factors impacting these results (currency fluctuation, export volumes, size of vessels, etc.). We will also drill down on the Canadian Marine results and discuss the impact that the Canadian and Worldwide economy has on them. Finally, we will review Jennifer Bensley's report on her IUMI experience as a first time attendee and the recipient of the 2016 CBMU-IUMI Conference Award.

The collapse of Hanjin Shipping Line has sent shockwaves through the international shipping and logistics markets. This presentation will provide an overview of the bankruptcy process, a sampling of best and worst case scenarios from other jurisdictions, and discussion on how the various costs and risks are being addressed at different points in the supply chain.

3:45 – 4:30 p.m. Accumulation, Modelling and CAT Management in the Marine Market

This presentation will focus on the following issues:

  • Who pays for these? What is the impact on results?
  • What to do?
  • Usage of tools, models and data.
  • CAT Modelling.
  • RMS Cargo Model.
  • Trade Data Services (example: IHS Markit).
  • Applications of CAT Modelling in Marine.
  • Other accumulation concerns.
  • Next steps.
